  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream (for ganache)
  • 8 oz dark chocolate (for ganache)

 

  • Chocolate shavings & sprinkles (for topping)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Mix until well combined.
  • Stir in boiling water slowly until batter is smooth. Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Divide batter between pans and bake for 30-35 minutes. Let cakes cool completely.
  • Prepare the ganache by heating heavy cream and pouring over chopped dark chocolate. Stir until smooth.
  • Layer cakes with ganache, then pour extra ganache over the top for a dripping effect.

 

  • Decorate with chocolate shavings and sprinkles. Chill before serving.
