Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp milk (if needed for dough consistency)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a separate large bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well, then stir in vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Roll dough and refrigerate for 30 minutes for easier handling.
  • Roll out dough to about ¼-inch thickness and cut into heart shapes using a cookie cutter.
  • Place cookies on the baking sheet, leaving space between them.
  • Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.
  • Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

  • For extra softness, slightly underbake and allow cookies to set while cooling.
  • Chill dough before rolling for easier shaping.
  • Add a pinch of cinnamon for a subtle flavor twist.
