  • Oil for Frying (vegetable, peanut, or shortening)

Buttermilk Gravy Ingredients:

  • Milk
  • Flour
  • Black Pepper

Instructions

  • Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Prepare a dredging station with flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and baking powder in one bowl, and buttermilk, eggs, and optional hot sauce in another.
  • Dredge the chicken in the flour mixture, then dip it in the buttermilk mixture, and dredge it back in the flour.
  • Heat oil in a skillet. Fry the chicken breasts until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  • For the gravy, melt butter in the pan, stir in flour, and cook for 1-2 minutes. Slowly whisk in milk, add black pepper, and cook until thickened.
  • Serve the fried chicken with the gravy on top.
