These chai-spiced cinnamon rolls are soft, fluffy, and infused with warm spices like cinnamon, cardamom, and ginger. Perfectly sweet and aromatic, they make a delightful breakfast or dessert.

  • Dough:

    • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour

    • ¼ cup granulated sugar

    • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast

    • ¾ cup warm milk

    • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

    • 1 egg

    • ½ tsp salt

  • Filling:

    • ½ cup brown sugar

    • 2 tbsp cinnamon

    • 1 tsp cardamom

    • ½ tsp ginger

    • ½ tsp nutmeg

    • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • Glaze:

    • 1 cup powdered sugar

    • 2 tbsp milk

    • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Prepare the dough: In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.

  • Add melted butter, egg, salt, and flour. Knead until a soft dough forms. Let rise for 1 hour.

  • Make the filling: Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and nutmeg.

  • Roll out the dough, spread softened butter, and sprinkle the filling mixture.

  • Roll up the dough, cut into rolls, and place in a greased baking dish. Let rise for another 30 minutes.

  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes or until golden brown.

 

  • Prepare the glaze: Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Drizzle over warm rolls.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, add a pinch of black pepper to the filling.

  • Swap milk for a dairy-free alternative if needed.

 

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
