Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large croissants, preferably day-old
  • 2 cups mixed berries (such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Tear the croissants into large pieces and place them in the prepared baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the mixed berries evenly over the croissant pieces.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, milk, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, almond extract (if using), and ground cinnamon.
  • Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissants and berries, pressing down gently to ensure the croissants absorb the liquid.
  • Let the mixture sit for 10-15 minutes to allow the croissants to soak up the custard.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown.
  • Allow the bake to cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Use a mix of your favorite berries or whatever is in season.
  • This dish can be prepared the night before and baked fresh in the morning.
